Known as the “Queen of the Western Suburbs,” Western Springs has remained a quaint, family-oriented community since the late 1800’s.
Burlington Northern commuter trains stop in town frequently, and offer fast and easy transportation into the city. Drivers have in-town access to the Tollway (I-294), which connects with two major expressways (I-55 and I-290). Bus service is available to both train stops in adjacent LaGrange. Rail commute time to the Chicago Loop is about 30 minutes.
District 101 includes three elementary and one junior high school. Lyons Township High School, District 204, serves Western Springs and surrounding communities with a comprehensive curriculum designed to promote learning for all students, including handicapped and gifted children. ACT scores are consistently above average.
Small area shops sit on the outskirts of Tower Green in the heart of Western Springs. Oakbrook and Yorktown shopping centers are both located nearby.
Hinsdale Community Hospital is a 459-bed facility with a medical staff of over 500. The hospital has an emergency department designed to treat acute injuries. Specialties include: intensive cardiac care, open-heart surgery, and comprehensive rehabilitation. LaGrange Memorial Hospital is a 274-bed facility with a medical staff of 375. This hospital is a state-of-the-art level II trauma care center, specializing in heart, cancer and senior care.
