After practicing corporate and commercial real estate law, Brad Lippitz longed for a flexible schedule and the ability to get around town during the day and actually see the sun. So, he took a yearlong leave of absence to focus on his furniture art studio. “During that leave, a few friends asked me to help with their home searches and I recognized that my true passion was residential real estate, so I decided to shift gears,” says Lippitz, a real estate broker and the president of Brad Lippitz Group at Compass. “I never returned to the law firm.”
Real estate combines all of Lippitz’s passions: Chicago, business, design, law, people and houses. A member of the Chicago Association of Realtors, National Association of Realtors and the American Bar Association, he has earned multiple annual sales awards, including the 2018 Platinum Award from CAR.
Lippitz works with luxury sellers and buyers in Chicago and the suburbs. “I see the potential in all properties and can help both buyers and sellers navigate their way to maximize value and return,” he says. In the past year, he hit a neighborhood record after selling out a luxury boutique condo development in Lakeview, with units priced at around the $2 million mark.
Clients benefit from Lippitz’s legal, design and development background. They are always quick to mention his respect for other brokers, willingness to go the extra mile and dedication to their best interests. “As a lawyer, I have keen insight into contracts and transactions, and how to effectively negotiate in any situation,” he says. “This gives my clients a huge advantage in the buying and selling processes.”
Involved in numerous fundraising and charitable campaigns — particularly causes focusing on human rights and the preservation of constitutional ideals — Lippitz and his husband, Yoni, regularly host fundraisers for political candidates, including Mayor Lori Lightfoot and presidential hopeful Pete Buttigieg. “I could not be prouder to go the extra mile for a candidate who is the antithesis of the incumbent,” he says. Lippitz loves seeing the world on a bicycle; earlier this year, he and Yoni took a magnificent bike trip through Vietnam and Cambodia.
