Even though my (mega) muscle-building days are long over, I still manage to fit in a rep or two on my favorite machines at the gym; I’m a dabbler. Earlier this week, after some sets on various machines, I sauntered over to the curl machine. I looked up and noticed another dude approaching the very same machine from a different direction.
We arrived at the curl machine at the exact same time. We looked at each other, and, after a moment of tension, I graciously offered the machine to him so he could do his curls. “It’s all yours,” I said with a VERY genuine and gracious smile. Hey, that’s how I roll.
Most people would have acknowledged my thoughtfulness and immense generosity of spirit with a “thank you” or at least a nod of the head. But nothing from this guy. NOTHING. No words, no nod, NOTHING.
I started to walk away… and then I abruptly did a U-turn and decided to exercise my (rarely used, but nonetheless available) work-out right: I told him that I would work in with him - i.e. take turns with our sets. He then let out a humph and left the weight room, leaving the curl machine all to me.
Between you and me, the last thing I wanted to do with this guy is work in with him on that curl machine; I really don’t like being around people who are not nice (especially those with such pathetic biceps). But, when he rattled me, there was no way I was going to let him win.
That’s how I roll in real estate: I’m a gentleman until you mess with me or my clients. And when you do, I will slay you.
