As we approach Thanksgiving, it’s again time for us to conjure up memories of pre-Thanksgiving circle time in Miss Ender’s second grade class when we expressed what we were grateful for. The events of 2025 require me to dig deep, but this is what I’ve come up with (perhaps it aligns with yours!).
To start with, I am thankful for those restaurant servers who resist temptation and keep their favorite menu choices to themselves. Also their names. I am thankful for my driveway. I am thankful for the inventors of peanut butter who had the vision to develop chunky - and later, super chunky - versions. I am thankful for four bars of cell service and for my back-up pair of Airpods.
I am thankful for the sea, the sky, the Earth, and also Pluto. I am thankful for Wordle and for my family.
Needless to say, I am thankful for the final demise of ubatuba granite countertops and maple kitchen cabinets - and the potential revival of avocado appliances (who knew that my cheesehead in-laws were so design-forward with their 50+ year avocado stove they still have, use and celebrate?!). I am thankful for mocha mousse, the 2025 Pantone color of the year (as if I have to even explain it).
I am especially thankful to those pedestrians who look up from their phones with just enough time to get (the hell) out of my way. Without a doubt, I am one of the few who is still thankful for MSG in take-out Chinese. I am also so thankful that I can pull up any Mary Tyler Moore or Bob Newhart episode at my whim. Or even Welcome Back Kotter.
I am indeed thankful for a team which collaborates with each other - and forges ahead without ego or attitude. I am grateful for an ever-expanding and devoted client base who puts their faith in us to help lead them through the complexities and emotions of buying and selling their homes.
I am still thankful for truth and justice when it happens. Oh, and also the rule of law when it happens too. I am thankful for vaccines, and for the ability to hope, dream, and savor the special and ordinary moments of every day.
I am thankful for you. And for my mom for making look so spiffy for the second grade class photo.
Have a great weekend and a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Best,
Brad
