Of all the beautiful and wondrous things we see every day, perhaps nothing gives me more pleasure than - you guessed it - a left turn arrow. As I dart around the City showing condos and houses, I tend to choose routes where I’ll find that arrow, graciously allowing me to proceed with dignity into the intersection and move on my way - without honking like crazy.
It’s a gift, a beautiful thing.
But one of the worst things we see every day are drivers (especially, it seems, those with plates from Missouri, Wyoming or Tennessee) who don’t understand how special this arrow is; they stay still in their cars and refuse to take advantage of the arrow. Which causes me to honk like crazy.
Similarly, without the rules of the road, buyers who enter a listing and are clearly not interested in a place are often unsure how to act during a showing. They often feel obliged to fein interest so they linger, asking questions which will have zero impact on their decision: Why are the sellers moving? When was the furnace replaced? Can we add a pantry? Can you stain Pergo floors? Why did they put in Pergo floors? What’s the sellers’ timeline?
My suggestion: pretend like you have a left turn signal and quickly move along.
Just so I won’t have to honk at you.

Celebrate Independent
Bookstore Day!
|
Yet again, Chicagoland proves itself to be the dream destination for book lovers and readers of all ages. Unabridged Bookstore joins more than two dozen independent bookstores in the greater Chicago area — from Lake Forest to Beverly, and Naperville to the Loop — in collaborating on a third annual Chicagoland Bookstore Crawl, which encourages book lovers to indulge in bookstore tourism by visiting 10 or more stores in a single day.
The annual challenge is being held again on Independent Bookstore Day (IBD), which is a one-day national party celebrating indie book stores on the last Saturday in April. Each store creates its own unique events—including guest authors, special kids’ story times, readings, contests, giveaways, and special sales. Participate by t
