On a recent buyers’ tour with my clients, the question which has plagued humankind for millennia surfaced: how important is the building’s lobby when you buy a condo or a coop?
This question artfully pits two of my cardinal rules against each other, namely: 1) the building and its lobby are natural extensions of your home; and 2) you should buy a home based on how you live 95% of the time.
Do you buy a fabulous apartment (meeting all of your requirements and then some) in a building where the lobby is, er, enthusiastically decorated with a jungle theme? Or do you buy a dump in a building worthy of Fifth Avenue and the purse dogs who live there? As you can see, there is no easy cost/benefit solution.
This a perplexing conundrum, requiring the talent, insight, market knowledge, and guidance from someone who can help you balance these competing goals. Someone, like… oh, let’s just say it: me.
Happy to help in any way I can.
Have a great weekend!
