Even though I don’t know him, there’s a guy I hate. This guy (let’s call him "DapperDan-Not!") has a gym locker in the same bay as mine, only two lockers away. After a completely inconsequential 15-minute workout, DapperDan-Not! spends the next hour and half grooming himself in the locker room. Armed with a dopkit the size of an airplane wheelie and filled with PRODUCTS, DapperDan-Not! showers and then, staring into the mirror, moisturizes, tweezes, clips, files, combs, shaves, and repeats. Every day. But the worst part of his routine occurs next right in front of his locker, right near my locker. Which is right by me.
On cue, he then takes out his aerosol foot and crotch powders, hairspray, colognes, and other products which have questionable purposes, and he proceeds to fumigate the entire bay of lockers, invariably choking me and making me very very miserable. But rather than confront him, I give him my mean evil sneer, cough extravagantly, and - if I’m in the mood - growl.
Like DapperDan-Not!, in a sea of real estate agents, there are always a few that rub me the wrong way - either because of their problematic ethics, annoying affect, offensive tactics, or - even worse - their bad style or sensibility. But I always resist temptation; I keep it to myself (and, occasionally, to you). Because in the end, having good relationships with every other agent in the city will benefit my clients if and when the time comes when we find ourselves on the other side of a transaction.
And, so long as they don’t spray aerosols in my face, that’s how I roll.
