There are just so many great places for kids: the park, a g-rated movie, possibly a pg-rated movie, the playground, a bowling alley, a pinball arcade (if they still exist), the sweets shop, the zoo, Great America, their room, school, McDonalds, your basement in front of the TV, the Museum of Science and Industry (easy garage parking in the winter), a playdate anywhere. Even in time out.
But there’s one really really bad place for kids: a showing at one of my listings. A couple came to tour one of my fabulous properties last week with their agent, their mother, their sister, an older daughter from a previous marriage, someone else, their nanny…and their four year old son.
Even with the army of adults who accompanied the buyers, the kid ran free - touching, jumping, bumping, and god knows what. I did my best to control the little delinquent, but my powers are limited, especially when I’m trying to highlight the functionality of the kitchen and the benefits of geothermal heating.
I resisted temptation and did not throw him off the roof terrace (fully irrigated with fabulous skyline views!).
So this is what the couple should have done: left their son at home with either their mother, their sister, an older daughter from a previous marriage, someone else, or their nanny.
