Usually, I pay no attention to what “they say.” But in this case, I agree with what they say: patience is a virtue. And of all my (er, redeeming?) qualities, patience doesn’t stand out as one of them. I like to get there ASAP, have an answer pronto, and promptly order a new clicker when it turns out the only reason it doesn’t work is because one of the AAA batteries died.
But patience is often required to effectively represent clients in their real estate transactions. And that’s one of the main reasons Stewart Smith, my good friend and colleague for over 30 years, is a Vice President of our group. Well-versed and highly experienced, he brings a wealth of knowledge and street-smart to the group. And most of all, he brings patience.
With a level head, he guides our clients effectively through each transaction - especially the difficult ones which often take months - and sometimes years (!) - to prepare for market. Although there have been many, one stately Gold Coast house which we closed earlier this year stands out as a prime example.
The longtime owner of this house had not lived in it for a few years, and really had done nothing/nada to the house during the 40 years that he did. After the house languished on the market with another agent - way overpriced and looking completely disheveled like a haunted Halloween house (heretofore, a “mess”), the seller approached us, desperate for some guidance and a new direction.
Unless a property is truly a complete tear-down, our group’s strategy is to make the home look approachable - and dare I say livable, even if a new owner would likely want to renovate.
And with grit, determination, and PATIENCE, Stewart bravely took on the challenge of transforming this mess to that standard. He advised, consulted, consoled, referred, supervised, coordinated - and essentially earned the trust of our seller/client who put his faith in our team to get the job done. And, after a year, we did just that - for a great market price.
But this is just one example of many of the feats he’s pulled off on behalf of the Brad Lippitz Group, day after day, year after year.
Now if he could just fix my clicker.
Have a great weekend!
Best,
Brad
