Occasionally, my investment advisor will check in with me, review our portfolio, and maybe even take me out for a sandwich (and a side latke, of course) at Manny’s. Other than that, I let him and his team do their job - and I don’t really pay attention to the individual stocks and trades. This frees me up so I can sell houses, walk the dog, take morning bubble baths, watch reality tv in the middle of the night, delete emails, and call my kids who won’t answer the phone.
I understand our portfolio is in their hands and that they’re looking out for our best interests, whether the market is way up, way down, or holding steady. This is what they’re trained to do.
Same goes for residential real estate. Although I don’t pretend to have all the answers, I do know that 30 years of navigating unpredictable markets benefits my sellers immeasurably; I know exactly what’s required to maximize the chance for a sale - whether the market is way up, way down, or holding steady.
Even though it may not always be easy advice to swallow, the clients who follow my lead will come out ahead.
And they may even get a sandwich and side latke from Manny’s out of it.
