As the proud host of the DNC this past week, Chicago showcased itself as the world class fabulous city it is. With clear sunny skies, visitors not only experienced our parks, restaurants, waterfront, skyline, clubs, river walks, music, culture, deep dish pizza, and hot dogs. They were welcomed to a city which embraces those of all colors, religions, beliefs, and identities.
And, as a lifelong Chicagoan in the real estate world, I reflected on the things I like.
In addition to houses with grand entry halls, kitchens with islands with quartz waterfall countertops, and primary suites with separate toilet rooms, here are some of the things I like:
I like my 38-year relationship with my husband Yoni and the family we created with the help of IVF and our incredible sisters. I like my religion and all religions or no religion, a free press, and all families - no matter how they’re made and by whom.
I like reading any and all books which interest me, my kids’ elementary school which celebrated my family rather than demean it, the word “gay,” and people of all colors. I like people of all genders and how they choose to define themselves.
I like women - and the faith I have in them to make even the most difficult decisions about their own bodies and health, the law, honest and fair elections. I like an independent judiciary, justice, and the rule of law. I like having dependable and trusted allies around the world.
Oh, and I like the separation of powers and democracy.
Feeling empowered and full of joy - and with the hope that things I like will be protected, I hope you have a great weekend!

Sunday in the Park with Lyric
|
Preview the upcoming Lyric Opera season during this free performance in Millennium Park, featuring the Lyric Opera Orchestra and a variety of vocalists. The Lyric's music director Enrique Mazzola conducts a program that includes excerpts from the 2024/25 season as well as Puccini, Beethoven and Mozart. Snag a spot on the lawn and witness the amazing sopranos (and mezzo-sopranos) for yourself—seating is first-come, first-served.
|
For the first time ever, Thalia Hall is opening its doors and welcoming guests inside for a free full-building crawl. You’ll be able to tour the historic space, plus listen to live performances by musical acts in rooms across the venue, from Punch House and Tack Room to the main stage. There will also be a curated art market down in the Beer Cellar as well as the chance to win merch and tickets. Check out the lineup and RSVP here.
