On a fairly routine buying tour this week, one of my buyers and I witnessed a horrifying no-no in the real estate world: the seller’s agent showed the house with the seller present. Unbelievable but true! Somehow the seller’s agent thought that this might be a plus.
But after the seller showed us his porcelain bird collection, highlighted the advantages of his crushed ice-making machine, and proudly unveiled his new ejector pump, my buyer had had enough. We couldn’t wait to escape and head to the next home on the tour.
Which brings me to our lesson of the week. When I represent you and your home, don’t take offense when I kick you out for all showings. Showing a home is an art and I don’t need you ruining my gig. When a buyer comes through my listing, I immediately size up that buyer and figure what kind of showing they expect. You see, there’s a scale: do they want a highly interactive detailed experience, go it alone, or something in between? How might their life-style priorities align with the attributes of this home?
After 25 years, I can figure this out and tailor the tour to that particular buyer. It’s in your best interest to let me and my group do what we do best. And please, stay out of our way.
Have a great holiday weekend!

Go to a Drive-In Fashion Show!
|
Just when we all thought every socially-distanced had been thought of and done ad nauseam, along comes Style.Rivals with Chicago's first ever Grease-themed drive-in fashion show! Head to Bridgeport to the ChiTown Drive-in Theater this Sunday and check out the fashions of top local outfitters putting their swing on the 50's style popularized in Grease. Every outfit is going to be judged by the audience who for the first time in fashion show history will be catching all the action live and in person from the comfort of their own cars. That's right, the audience (YOU!) will toot their horns loud and proud for the looks they like best. There will be an actual catwalk for the models to strut their stuff. Greased lightning, go, greased lightning!

Let's Play Two: Catch the Cubs at Wrigley and/or the Sox at GR Field
|
Baseball is officially back in Chicago! Both the White Sox and Cubs are playing in town this weekend, and every precaution has been taken to keep fans safe. Guaranteed Rate Field and Wrigley Field will be limited to 20% capacity, so 8,122 fans on the South Side and 8,274 fans on the North Side. Those capacity limits will allow groups of fans to sit at least six feet apart from one another. In addition, both ballparks will feature mandated mask-wearing unless you're actively eating or drinking, limited contact entries, cashless concessions, reconfigured concourses and additional bathrooms. Let's play ball!
