Many of us, glued to our TV’s, have been experiencing the thrills of victory and the agony of defeat…all mingled up with political statements, doping scandals, fake snow, and Jennifer Coolidge eating purple lipstick. But, of course, nothing stands out more than the anticipation, the joy, the fear of.....Johnny Weir’s next outfit.
No matter your response to Johnny Weir’s, er, style, you have to give credit to his confidence in making his own statement. I believe the same goes for real estate. Don’t be afraid to go for the unexpected when you make your home yours. Simple changes can transform and personalize a space. Consider showstopper kitchen pulls (they exist), vintage light fixtures, a borderline offensive paint color (“Veri Peri” is Pantone’s color of 2022), or - sit down for this one - shag carpeting, strategically placed. What rocks you? Chrome? Overly priced tiles and stones? Macrame? Maybe it’s worth giving it a shot.
If you ask (and even if you don't), I’m happy to give you my own real estate broker/designer/flipper dude opinion if you want it. The only thing that’s outside my comfort zone is thumbtacks.
Let’s put everything else on the table and see where it goes.
Have a great weekend!

Teaming up with the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, Weinberg/Newton Gallery in River West/West Town presents Human/Nature, a group show that balances works by contemporary artists with commentary from climate scientists and experts about how to build a sustainable future. "Human/Nature" confronts an uncertain future with works like a mossy installation from Regan Rosburg and a multi-media piece by Obvious and French collective that uses images taken by Russian photographer Stas Bartnikas to reimagine the Doomsday Clock. Admission is free with a reservation via Tock.
