With the Spring market beginning in just a couple of weeks, everyone is just trying to figure it all out. Right now, there’s a strange and dizzying combination in Chicago of low inventory for eager buyers in some sub-markets - and high inventory with eager sellers in other sub-markets. A few sub-markets have a nice happy equilibrium with everyone dancing around the maypole.
In this type of environment, I have encountered nothing but strange and dizzying offers, with sellers and buyers both becoming easily offended, using uniquely wonderful expletives I have not encountered in years.
Although you can yell and scream with me as much as you want, please don’t become offended by the offer - or counter-offer - of the buyer or seller on the other side. Everyone is just trying to ascertain and exercise their negotiating power so they can buy or sell a home. The other side is not necessarily an evil diabolical dictator aiming to conquer earth for their own pleasure. Though, I suppose they could be.
No matter what, I’m here to help you toughen your skin and figure it all out.

Chicago International Puppet Festival
|
Can't get enough of marionettes? You'll love the Chicago International Puppet Theater Festival, which brings puppeteers from across the globe to the city for 12 days of symposiums and more than 100 performances and events. This year marks the festival’s first-ever establishment of a “puppet hub,” which includes site-specific events throughout different spaces in the Fine Arts Building on Michigan Avenue—take a look around to find everything from a puppet-themed cafe to film screenings in the building’s massive Studebaker Theater. Outside the hub, find productions like a puppet rendition of Hamlet at The DuSable Black History Museum and Education Center and a free touring production of My Night in the Planetarium. For a full list of performances, visit the festival’s website.
