There are many days when I’m happy that my ancestors fleeing pogroms in Eastern Europe decided to settle in Chicago rather than a place like, say, Mississippi (or anywhere in the South, really). But today - after responsibly navigating the unknown landscape of this pandemic - the City of Chicago is re-opening, and I could not be more excited and proud.
Bring on the lakefront bikers and joggers. Bring on the beaches. Bring on the outdoor festivals. Bring on the games, the museums, the theaters, the farmers markets, the symphony, the opera. Bring on the restaurants and cafes, the clubs, the river, the shops, the construction, and the parks. Bring it all on.
It’s a great day to celebrate and appreciate this great city - perhaps even by buying a new home in it!

Catch a drive-in Grateful Dead cover band with Dark Star Orchestra at Soldier Field

Dark Star Orchestra is taking over Soldier Field’s South Parking Lot in Chicago on Friday, June 11, and Saturday, June 12 for 2 special live and in-person sets each night! Performing to critical acclaim for over 20 years, Dark Star Orchestra continues the Grateful Dead live concert experience. Their shows are built off of The Dead’s extensive catalog and the talent of these seven fine musicians. On any given night, the band will perform a show based on a setlist from the Grateful Dead’s years of touring or use their catalog to program a unique setlist for the show.
The Parking Lot opens at 6:00 PM and the show begins promptly at 7:00 PM.
