Even though I truly appreciate and applaud the film’s feminist bent, EverythingBarbie has just gotta stop. The commercials, the posts, the newspaper articles, the NPR stories, the billboards - she’s everywhere. My son’s talking about Barbie, my dentist is talking about Barbie, my team is talking about Barbie. My UPS driver, the bag stuffer at the Jewel, and the locker room attendant at my gym - everyone. Even the guy next to me at the ballgame.
The last thing I’m going to do is waste this sacred space on a cultural fuchsia phenomenon that has taken over the world. Not gonna do it.
But, ooooh… that Dreamhouse (OMG!). I’d kill for that listing. We get it that you already know about Lolla, but it is Chicago’s biggest summer party and attracts acts and visitors from around the world - and from right here in Chicago.
