Contrary to what I tried to instill in my kids when they were younger, the truth is that I’m not God.
Despite my lofty aspirations and unorthodox career path, that job still eludes me. And I recognize that’s exactly what many of my clients want me to be too.

As a student of the market (hat tip to University of Chicago), I believe in the basic principles of supply and demand - and that there always is a plethora of external forces which impact the residential real estate marketplace. Sometimes those forces are obvious and predictable; often they’re not.
Because the Chicago market is so segmented, the various sub-markets have faced different forces in the last few years: the demand for Lincoln Park single family homes is considerably nuanced from the demand for downtown condos, for example.
But right now there is a lot going on in the external world which impacts the entire market: rising interest rates, decreased stock portfolios, an attack on our democracy, and the far-reaching ramifications of the war in Ukraine (fuel prices, supply chains, and inflation), to name a few.
If I succeed in landing that ultimate job, I will reverse it all and create the perfect market with my magic all-powerful wand.
Given that’s highly unlikely, this is what you’ll get from me: a wise, experienced, and candid approach to navigating this uncertain market…even though I may not have all the answers or the power to change the market.
I think that’s fair and hope you do too.
