If you haven’t been outside yet today, you’re lucky. It’s cold and overcast, and they’re saying that the season’s first snow is likely. Seriously, this winter has gone on way too long.
Even though I’m not among those who savor winter (obviously?), this season reminds me how much I love being home, in my very own house - where I can do anything. Not that I would - ever - but things like this could be done: belting out “The Body Electric” from “Fame” over and over during your 50 minute workout on the elliptical in the basement; playing every single Barry Manilow hit on the piano (especially “Mandy” and “I Write the Songs”) with every single key change ever invented; dancing on the kitchen table to Pee Wee Herman’s beautifully choreographed “Big Shoe Dance” to “Tequila”; cooking double, and sometimes triple, recipes of Kraft macaroni and cheese even when you’re an empty nester; refilling your hot bubble bath with hot water three times while you listen to Cheech and Chong, play words with friends, and google Cher’s houses; re-watch every episode of the “Mary Tyler Moore Show” for the 1000th time; and bake crazy amounts of Chex Mix
to nibble on while you conduct said above activities.
If you’re not having that “feel good” feeling in your home, let’s discuss ASAP and come up with a game plan to make a change.

Ending their year-long hiatus and marking their 25th season, the Lakeside Pride Symphonic Band debuts their fall performance this weekend at the DePaul University School of Music. Lakeside Pride Music Ensembles is Chicago’s premier family of performance groups for members and friends of the LGBTQ community. Home to four major ensembles – Jazz Orchestra, Marching Band, Pops Ensemble, and Symphonic Band – plus over a dozen chamber ensembles, the organization offers a diverse musical experience for both its audience and members.
All patrons must provide either proof of complete vaccination or a negative PCR test result taken with 72 hours of the event.
All Lakeside Pride performers are required to prove vaccination status to participate in our ensembles.
Masks are required at all times in the performance hall.
